Summary:
Apple’s WWDC 2026 is scheduled for June 8, and will be Tim Cook’s last as CEO.The next update is rumoured to include a reworked Siri, AI features in the Photos app, a redesigned Camera app and simpler shortcut creation via Siri.
Apple is preparing to convene its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) tomorrow, June 8, 2026. The event will be Tim Cook’s last formal event as the iPhone maker’s chief executive and will be place at the company’s Cupertino, California-based headquarters.
Here’s what we expect during Apple’s WWDC 2026 event:
1) Siri overhaul is finally here:
Back at WWDC 2024 two years ago, Apple had unveiled a redesign of Siri. After a number of delays, Apple is now ready to unveil the second version of Siri. Not only will it get the 3 promised features that the first version had, it will get a slew of new ones as well.
Apple has already partnered with Google to be the brains behind the new Siri, meaning the voice assistant will be running on a special Gemini model below.
Expect Apple to reveal more about this model at the WWDC 2026 keynote presentation and the additional features Siri could bring.
A few highlights:
Siri design: There are reports that Siri is going to undergo a revamp with brand new animations that Apple teased with the WWDC 2026 ad.
Siri on Dynamic Island: The voice assistant is also likely to feature in the iPhone's Dynamic Island, which is slated to expand with a “Search or Ask” prompt and an increasing cursor effect when you invoke Apple's voice assistant.
Agentic features: Siri will supposedly be able to manage some settings inside the iPhone and Mac. Siri will also have the ability to fetch the user’s personal information across the first-party apps Messages, Notes and Mail in order to offer contextual answers.
Extensions: Imagine ChatGPT as a way of answering the more complex questions you pose to Siri. Apple is trying to make that happen with the new Extensions system in the App Store that might allow customers to plug in other rival chatbots such as Grok or Claude.

Standalone Siri app: A chatbot-like version of Siri will likely be released for usage with iOS 27. Apple’s new app could allow users to toggle the speech mode on and off, submit photographs and other documents to the chatbot and even view their prior interactions.
2) AI wizardry in the Photos app:
Apple is also likely to bring AI power to its Photos app . The corporation reportedly planned some new AI functions that rivals have had for a while.
First up is a feature called Extend, which would let users extend the image beyond its original frame by creating more background information.
The second might be a feature called Enhance, which would let users improve colour balance, lighting and image quality with a single tap.
Third may be a Reframe option, which might allow users to alter the viewpoint of spatial photographs after they’re taken.
The corporation is also said to be trying out another new function, which might enable users to edit photos with natural language instructions. But Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says such changes may not be included in the first release of iOS 27.
3) Camera app gets a refresh:
Visual Intelligence could be a significant aspect of iOS 27’s Camera app. According to the leaks, Siri may get a specific mode somewhere within the app next to options such as Photo, Video and Portrait.
The latest version could let users use third-party AI assistants like ChatGPT to aim their iPhone at objects around them and ask enquiries.
The app might also have two features that could be incredibly useful in the real world:
One feature is Nutrition Tracking, which can scan food labels to get calorie and macronutrient information, which can then be sent to the Health app.
Second, a new Contacts function will probably be able to scan business cards, pamphlets and printed materials containing phone numbers and addresses and save them to the Contacts app.
Apple is also rumoured to be testing a new widget-based camera UI that might be optional but provide power users more ways to tweak the camera controls menu.
If leaks are to be believed, functions like flash, timer, exposure, photo styles, resolution settings and depth controls can be rearranged as per the convenience of users.

4) Siri can help you create shortcuts:
Apple might finally make it easy to create shortcuts on the iPhone.
Bloomberg says that with Siri in iOS 27, customers will be able to define in natural language the type of shortcut they desire, and the AI assistant will build it right then.
The shortcuts will purportedly be made with AI and will be available on the go.
Compatible phones:
According to the leaks, iOS 27 will most probably be released to all the iPhones after iPhone 11. Which means it should support following iPhones:
Models Series
iPhone 12 series iPhone 12 small, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max
